Step 1: Repartition the hard disk using Partition Magic, and format the new
partition with FAT.
Step 2: Install Windows 95 into the new partition.
Step 3: Configure your dual boot menu.

All that, just to play some old games.

There are other ways to play those games other than installing W95. All that
does is create a lot of problems. Go into Google and do some research.
Better yet, forget those antiques. There are much better games now
available, including better running versions of the games you now have.

Chances are very remote Windows 95 will run
on a fairly new computer. I suggest you try
using Windows XP's Program Compatibility
Wizard instead.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments, suggestions, etc. You made me do the
one thing I should have done to begin with.........THINK (and do a little
research)!! I now understand that you can adjust the settings on XP to make
them compatable with products for other versions of Windows. I went into
properties and set the game up to run on '95. It installed and ran like a
charm! And, why yes, all this for a stupid game!! You see, Harboro
apparently never updated the game and it is my husband's favorite. So I went
through all this not just for a stupid game, but to show my husband that even
after 26 years of marriage, he is still very important to me!

Happy Holidays and thanks again!!

A fine sentiment. But if you find yourself going through the same
process in the future, it may be worth factoring in an upgrade to
Husband V2.0 as an alternative. Windows 95 games are just SOOOOH last
century :)

There are alot of old dos and windows 95 games here--some similar to the
harboro game--that you might like to look at. Regarding your original
question, it is possible to multi boot with 95 and XP, but the process is
complicated and tedious. If you did not know about the compatibility option,
you do not want to attempt a multi boot.

I have xp set up to boot with windows 98 so I can play my old 98 games
because some will not play with the compatibility feature.

I said windows, but all those text based games are DOS which is easily
accessed through windows.

In MixMasterJ <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

If you get bored and want to use older games with XP take this for a spin:

DOSBox, an x86 DOS emulator:

It's got a bit of a learning curve but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Thanks Frazer! I'll take that into consideration when I "upgrade" to a newer
model! (lol)
