Finding a workstation name by user name

Matt Shickell

Hi all,

Is there any way on an NT/Windows 2000 network that you
can find a users computer name from their username in a
multi domain model (preferably not having to give what
domain they are in)

A friend has done a method by doing a net send to the
user, then checking nbtstat to get the ip address of the
users workstation.

This is ok, but not very neat having to send a message to
the users workstation. Surely theres another way around it?

Thanks

Not easily. Best would be capture the login ID and IP to a database
in a login script if this is something you regularly need.
