find part text, replace all text

I am not sure this is possible without writting code. I was thinking of
useing the find replace utility to find the cells that contain the first
three letters of "tot" and then replace the entire contents of the cell with
a blank. when ever i try it all it replaces is the "tot", i want to wipe out
the entire cell. if find and replace will not work is there a simple bit of
code i can put into a macro to do the same thing? Thanks

thank you very much, i could have sworn i tried that b4 and could not get it
to work. But it does exactly what i need, i was messing it up b4 somehow.

thanks again.
