In 2003, how do i find a file by searching only for a word that i know is in
the text - and how do i limit the subdirectories to search in.

You will find it much simpler to do this using Windows Explorer, but from
the File Open dialog, select Tools > Search, then click the arrow next to
Selected Locations to select those locations.
