Find actual network speed...?

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I had a 10-base-2 link on which it took 5 hours to transmit
a particular image.

I replaced that link with fiber, and, for several days, the
transmission of that same image took about an hour.

Now, for some reason, it is up to about four hours, so
clearly something is slowing things down.

How can I determine the actual speed of transmission over
the fiber. Network properties tells me that nominally, I am
at 100 Mbps, but I need to know the actual rate.

Thanks for any help,

Hello again,

I thank you for your suggestion but found the source of the
problem in another direction:

As it turned out, the machine that was sending the image had
a NIC that did not support Flow Control. I replaced that
NIC, and now, all is well.

Thanks again,
