Filling in addresses

Windows mail does not fill in the address for the individual I am sending an
email to when I enter the first few characters. I have to go into my address
book and select one.

In Control panel indexing options tell vista to rebuild index of your disks

The auto-complete feature in Windows Mail doesn't work very well.
The second time you send to that same addressee, it should
auto-complete, but it's not very dependable.
