Fill handle

Hello,

I am using Office 2007. The help for Excel says one can use a "fill handle"
to fill data from a cell or cells above to cells below. Help also tells one
how to enable the "fill handle", which I have done. However, help does not
tell one how to get or find the fill handle. How do I get it so I can use
it?

The fill handle is the very small square in the bottom right corner of the
bottom-most right-most cell of a selected range.

When the cursor gets near the fill handle, the cursor changes from a large
outlined cross to a small solid cross, at which time you can click to select
the fill handle and drag it.

Thank you for your help, and that feature is quite helpful too. Is there
some easier way than going to this newsgroup, that I should have been able
to find out about the location of the fill handle?

In Excel 2007, press the F1 key, type "fill handle" in the Search box, click
Search, click the first search result "Fill data automatically in worksheet
cells," scroll down or click "Use the fill handle to fill data." In that
section of Help, there's an explanation and a graphic showing the fill
handle.

In Excel 2007, press the F1 key, type "fill handle" in the Search box,
click Search, click the first search result "Fill data automatically in
worksheet cells," scroll down or click "Use the fill handle to fill data."
In that section of Help, there's an explanation and a graphic showing the
fill handle.

In Excel 2003, that process yields "Fill data in worksheet cells" as the
first item... clicking that tells how to use the fill handle.

I saw that graphic but didn't realize that it was representing a selection
of cells. Would have if it had of included the cell borders for multiple
cells.

Thanks again,
Bob

Using Excel's Help should be a given. Using Google you
should be aware that there are two places to search
and you should read about options available for each, as well

Improving your Search usage with Google

web sites

help with web search

help with newsgroups

if you learn about the operators, then you can use the
simple search forms for advanced search type results.

And some techniques with Google:
fill.hand would find "fill hand" "fill-hand"
fill-hand would find "fill hand" "fill-hand" "fillhand"
fill hand would find pages where both words exist
"fill hand" would find "fill hand"
any punctuation is treated as a space.

Naturally use of the fill handle is going to show up quite in
a very large number of places; hopefully, my webpage
will answer any question you have for at least awhile.
