filesharing (bittorent) limited on vista?

Hi guys,

I am having problems after (clean) installing vista home premium
with my filesharing programs.
The download speed is very slow and no matter what I do, I
can´t get it near the same levels I had when I used xp sp2 and
my internet browsing slows to a halt when using the programs.
There´s no block in win firewall (even tried to disable it) and
I have closed win defender but the problems remains.
I´m not using a router either.
I have even tried to run in "win xp mode".

When I download a file as "normal" (from my browser) like from tucows.com
and just save it to the disk, I get great speed on my download
and browsing my internet but when I turn on filesharing it sucks.

I have tried to use the filesharing and (bittorent) programs
Azereus
utorrent
shareaza
emule
all which I have tried in win xp with both the "good settings" and tweaking
modes...all with great results...but on vista.....it just sucks :-(

Does a kind soul have any idea what is going on?

Regards

Mike

The latest version of Bitcomet is designed to be used with Vista. You will
get the same speed as with XP.
Please make sure that you have "file and printer sharing" turned on in Vista
to accept remote connections. This is something which was not necessary to
do in XP but is necessary for Vista.

From a glance at the changelog, the only things changed recently for Vista
compatibility was a GUI bugfix and the ability to catch links in IE.
Therefore I don't think that anything in particular needs to be done for
bittorrent clients to make them Vista compatible on the networking side of
things. uTorrent works fine for me, and hasn't had an update for some time.

Also, bittorrent speeds are actually likely to be faster in Vista, compared
to XP SP2, as the TCP/IP stack has been totally rewritten.
