FILES WON'T OPEN

H

Harry G Peare

When I try to open an Excel file, I get an error message. When I look up the
error message I get
c:\DOCUME~1\HARRYG~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\f195_appcompat.txt
I found out that this means that I have a file that interferes with
Excel.exe. How do I find the file to delete it?
All of my other office files open OK Thanks

That files is in C:\Documents and Settings\Harry Peare\Local Settings\Temp

The Local Settings folder is hidden by default so try any window
(Tools>Folder Options...>View, and check show hidden files and folders)

In XP, Make sure you have hidden files showing, in Explorer, manuever to
Documents & settings/<user name>/local settings/temp
Delete all files and subdirectories
