files waiting to be copied

I tried saving some of my files to cd, most of them went OK, but I have a few
that say they cannot be copied because they are protected, or disc is full.
Anyway, I would just like to delete the temporary files and they won't
delete. Can anyone help? I used the Windows program for the operation.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not entirely clear, but did you right-click on the writable drive
and click on 'Delete temporary files'?

I right-clicked the files on the hard drive as that's where they are waiting
to be copied from. That's when the problem happens. Can't delete
them.........first says "files are in use". One of the files is "Common
Files" the other is an HP file.

Thanks for your help.

Hello again,

These files are located in C:\Documents and Settings\{your profile}
\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning
To see them you would have to be set to 'Show hidden files and
folders' in Tools\Folder Options\View
You could try deleting them in Safe Mode.

or ..

Use this freeware:

Unlocker

or ..

Write the path and filename of the file into Notepad. Highlight and
copy this path. Leave Notepad open for now.

Open the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del), select the Processes tab, and
End Task on all explorer.exe processes. You will lose your Taskbar and
desktop icons, but that's OK.

Next, in Task Manager click the File menu (or the Applications tab)
and select New Task

In the window that opens type cmd and click OK.
At the prompt type
del "
Right-click and Paste in the path to the file you copied earlier
Finish up by typing in a closing quote "
Hit the Enter key

Restart Explorer in Task Manager by typing explorer in the New Task
window's dialog box.
