files on disc disappeared

I selected photos to be written to a cd-r disc. The wizard showed the photos
I already had on the disc and the new ones ready to be written to the disc. I
asked it to write the new files to the disc. It did but now it only shows the
new files on the disc and I can't access the photo files that were on the
disc. Anyone know how I can access them? I have Windows XP w/sp2 and an I/O
Magic DVD RW Disc Drive.

Re: OLD(er) pictures gone.

Type of CD really was a CD-R ?
Sure you didn't use a CD-RW which got (re)formatted before the 2nd burn?

Yes it was a CD-R. Not a CD-RW. I know they are still on the disc because a trial version of a photo recovery program shows them. But I don't want to purchase the program solely for that purpose.

Re: OLD(er) files...

Did you try accessing them with different photo apps (viewers)?

Suggest you

http://www.google.com

for either or both of:

" Irfanview " (get the "plugins" also).

and/or:

" Faststone Image Viewer ".

Yes, I tried the ones you mentioned, but they can view only the photos that
show as being on the disc. They cannot view the original photos on the file
that are not showing as being on the disc. As I stated, since this is a cd-r
i know they are there and I could use a special program if I wish to purchase
it. I know at one time there was a download from microsoft that would allow
you to read tracks on a disc that were not visible when it only showed the
last files burned. But I can't find it.
