Files disappeared from My documets

J

Jashi

Several days ago some folders from My Documents folder just disappeared. The
folders and files in it are really important for me and I was trying to
recover is somehow but I found no clue for that. When I search for files it
shows that they are on their original location but I cannot access them, they
can just be on the Search index I suppose and it makes no séance. But I
installed Undelete program to check if somehow it is deleted itself and from
there I sow lost folders with only those files in the folders which I have
deleted before and it is showing that the folder itself is not deleted.
I can’t imagine what else can be a cause and can someone help me with this
case

Thanks,
Jashi

Hi Jashi,

Not really sure what you are looking at, but you have no "My Documents"
folder per say in Vista. It's there, but it's only for backward
compatibility. What you do have is a "Documents" folder and that's where
everything is stored in Vista.

When you open the Documents folder in Windows Explorer, do you see a button
on the toolbar named Compatibility Files"? If so, click on it. This will
take you to the virtualstore location.

Hi Jashi,

You really should call it what it is now. It can confuse people whom is
trying to help you sending them off on a wild goose chase :>)

If you right click on "Documents" then properties do you see a Previous
Version tab?
If so, you my have backup Shadow copies of these folders/files you can
recover.
