Files and Folders not sorted

Whenever I use the "Save As" function, the files and folders are not shown in
sorted order. This is a new phenomenon, as they have been shown sorted in
the past. How can I fix this? I'm running XP Professional SP3.

Just a WAG:

Open windows explorer, go to that folder and be certain it's sorted
alphabetically and not by date or something else. Make a change, put it
back, leave it sorted alphabetically. Click Tools; Folder Options; View.
Click "Apply to All Folders".
Of course, previously differently sorted folders will all be set to
that setting now.

See if the Save As shows things sorted properly now.

Twayne,
That didn't work. I opened a new Word document and clicked "Save As". The
folders and files appear in seemingly random order. However, when I view the
folders and files from "My Computer", everything is sorted in all folders and
subfolders. Thanks for trying.

They are probably not "random" but sorted by modified date. Right-click in
the MS-Word "Save As" dialog box showing the files, choose "Arrange Icons
By", and pick one of these sort orders:
Name
Size
Type
Modified

It should remember your change, even if you Cancel out of the SaveAs - mine
did. If not, well...

(Dear Microsoft... Oh never mind. :)

I should have mentioned that I'm using Word 2003. MS Word 2003 does not respond to a right click on "Save As". However, if you left click "Save aA" and then click the "View" Tab at the top and select "Details", then arrange the folders as desired, the change "sticks". Problem solved! Thanks for the reply.
