Hi,

I would like to know if there is a better way to do this.

I have 4 worksheets (WH1, WH2 etc) that linked the value of 1 workbook to
another

WH1 cell X34 i have a formula ='O:\path\path\path\[filename July
2009.xlsx]Rpt'!$K$84
WH2 cell X34 i have a formula ='O:\path\path\path\[filename July
2009.xlsx]Rpt'!$H$83

The thing that changes is month in the filename & the cell that it links to
eg. K84. Currently i import a text file so i only have to change those 2
values.

Just do it with Find-Replace.

You could even put the target and replacement values in cells and record a
macro do the find-replace, and move the replacement value to target (for
next time).

You can record it as I say. What version of Excel do you have?

Bob,

I am using Excel 2007. I'm really lost in what you are saying bc I am not an
advance user. Can u explain to me below (step by step) pls :)

I was thinking of putting ='O:\path\path\path in cell A1 & $K$84 in cell B1
on another worksheet named File1

So instead of typing this ='O:\path\path\path\[filename July
2009.xlsx]Rpt'!$K$84 i would type =File1!A1 & "[filename July
2009.xlsx]Rpt'!" & File1!B1. This formula returns a string for some reason!!
Also, it's time consuming for me to add the filename & cell value to the
File1 spreadsheet.
