File X is not available

Can read none of my doc files using Word but can read them
with wordpad. I get message File X not available. nothing
in KB.
Also can read in wordpad and iusing Word over a network
from another machine.

Have uninstalled and re-installed Offixe XP pro and the
service packs.

Help please.
