File tags

I have WinXP Pro, WMP9, Windows Plus! and Plus! DME and
record a lot of old cassettes and albums to mp3. I also
have some old CD's that were created a few years ago with
other software, Easy CD Creator 4/5. I have a rather
large music library but have been keeping my old rips in
another directory and not integrating with WM9 yet since
WMP9 does not update the Advanced Tags correctly. I can
go into the editor and put the proper information into the
tag but WMP9 does not recognize it. The album art is not
updated correctly. If I download a file from the
Internet, WMP9 usually goes out to the Internet and finds
the proper information and updates the tags, then I have
it set to re-arrange so it moves it to the proper
directory. For example, I take a CD I created 4 years ago
that only has .cda files on it, I rip it with WMP9 using
the InterVideo MP3 format and WMP9 creates a directory
called Unkown Artist\Unknown Album (date-time)\Track1.mp3
and Track2.mp3, etc. If I click the Find Album Info, it
then asks me to put in the artist name and then WMP9 will
list the albums of this artist. I find the correct album
and select it and when I click Finish, it updates all the
files from the CD to that artist\album directory even
though they do not belong. So, I am thinking I am dealing
with multiple situations here.

Where does WMP9 get the information? Other programs, like
MusicMatch, let you specify the provider, i.e., CDDA.

What file information is WMP9 using to compare?

How do I get the proper information on my files if WMP9
does not recognize?

After mulitple tracks are ripped from a CD that is not
recognized automatically, how do I get them separated so
that the information of one file when selected does not
update the information on the other files?

Thanks in advance,
