file sharing problems

I have two computers networked together using a router. They both have win
xp sp2. The problem I am having is that both computers can see each other
and computer A can access the files on the computer B but Computer B cannot
access computer A. When I go into view workgroup computers I see the other
computer but when I click on it, it comes up with a screen to enter a
username and password. I have tried all the passwords and usernames I use
and they dont work. Any suggestions on how to keep this from coming up so
the other computer can access all the time.

Thanks

I am also getting the same problem with a new HP Laptop. It can see everyone
else on my network but I get the login prompt when I try and access it.
I have Norton Internet Secuirty installed on all the PCs and thought it was
that but even disablng it does not cure.

Anyone out there with a solution for both of us?

Since you didn't say whether you have XP Home or Pro, I'll give you
links for file-sharing on both platforms. In addition, here is a
network troubleshooter by MVP Hans-Georg Michna. Take the time to go
through it; it will pinpoint the problem area(s) for you.

Is remote access enabled on both A & B

This would have nothing to do with whether computers on a lan can access
each other's files/printers.
