File Security

In April 2003, I made a folder private. I have not been
able to access that folder ever since. I always receive
an access denied message. When ever I try to change the
attributes, I receive a message that tells me that an
error has occurred applying attributes. The folder is
hidden and read only. What do I need to do to access this
file or even delete it.
