File & Print Sharing in XP Home Edition

I am running XP Home and cannot share my Printer or Files. My laptop is
using Windows 2000 proffesional. I can see all computers on the network but
when I try to access another computer. nothing shows up. (I have already
enabled sharing for my printer and some folders.) I was told that XP Home
will not allow me to share my folders or printers because of the unchangeable
"simple file sharing" feature (always on). is this true and if so is there
anything else I can do to solve this issue.

Hi

If you're using Service Pack 2, make sure you have enabled File and
Print Sharing in the firewall settings. If you're using another
firewall such as Pc-cillen or AVG (I'm using AVG firewall) then you
may need to enable it there as well. In AVG firewall for example, I
had to do this before I could share files/printers on the network even
though it had already been enabled in Windows itself. In the case of
files, you also have to enable sharing on the Properties/Sharing tab
for the folder(s) in question - at least that's what I had to do.
Networking should be easier than this.
