File Permissions on Attachments

A user is having problems opening attachments that user sends from home.
Actually if user sends it to anyone from home, you are unable to open the
Microsoft Office 2003 suite attachments.

Any file that's created with Word 2003, Excel 2003, etc, she is unable to
open.
She receives this message in Word. Word is experienced an error typing to
open the file. Try these suggestions. Check the file permissions for the
document or drive. Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
Open the file with the text Recovery converter.

I was able to recover a word document with a utilities that I downloaded to
fix the file, but I don't think the user wants to do this.

Any information would be appreciated.

What happens if she saves the attachments to disk first?

If user saves the attachment to desktop, user still gets the same message
when trying to open file.

User is set as an administrator of machine
Group staff
Group teachers
(They are set as administrators of local machine)
