Hello! Help would be appreciated.
I had a bad sector on a seagate drive and repaired it with their software.
The computer would not boot into Windows and kept cycling back to the black
boot options screen. Once I repaired the sector Windows booted normally. I
have run the diagnostics (always from DOS using a bootable CD) and no more
bad sectors have appeared for three weeks. However when I run the file
integrity check I get the following error message: "Partition 1 Failed with
Critical Errors" "One or more errors were found in the index" "Other errors
were found" I have run chkdsk with the /F /R and /X switches selected
repeatedly and everything seems to check out. I receive no error messages
and no indications that anything has been repaired. However when I run the
Seagate diagnostic the errors remain. I have also defragged. The computer
itself seems to be running fine. It is an ASUS P4P800E with 1 gig DDR
memory, a 2.8 P-4 with Hyperthreading. The Seagate is a 4 month old S-ATA
120 Gig drive. I replaced the drive data cable just to rule that out. Any
thoughts on this would be appreciated. Richard
