File Extensions

Don

Trying to find the "exe" file extension in folder options-
file types, so that I can have the "exe" extension
visible "only". (Have selected hide file extensions for
known file types in other section so that I can select
the "exe" extension only in folder options/file types).

The other extensions are there, zip, etc, but exe is'nt,
however it is there somewhere because if I type in exe as
a new file extension, it says that exe is already
associated.

Using Win98 and XP.

Thanks,
D Bache

This is intentionally hidden in File Types, as screwing it up could cause
you to not be able to run any EXE files.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile

Right click in the right pane, select New, String value and name the new
value AlwaysShowExt Leave the contents blank/empty. You may need to log
off/log on to see the change.
