file error, won't read 1 CD-ROM but reads others just fine

When trying to start a program that runs off of the CD-ROM, I get these error
message windows, in this order (yes, with the CD IN the drive!):

1) "File Error. Cannot find MVFS2.DLL", then,
2) "File Error. Cannot find MVSRCH.DLL", and finally,
3) ""Can't run 16-bit program. Cannot find file
c:\WINDOWS\system/Mviewer2.exe (or one of it's components).

What is crazy is that:

a) I've been using this CD-ROM & program for several months with no problem!

b) All of my other CD-ROM's still work just fine, so it's not the CD-ROM
drive.

c) I verified that there is no dirt or scratches on the disk.

d) I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program from the CD-ROM, but that
wouldn't work either, becuase it doesn't show up in the list of programs to
remove - and it just won't read the disk to try to reinstall it! The
disk-drive light kicks on and off intermittenly, but just won't read it. I
tried "run, d:/setup.exe" etc. - still nothing.

e) I copied my autoexec.nt and config.nt files from windows repair folder to
the system32 folder, just in case the files got corrupted somehow. Still
nothing.

f) I have McAffee virus scan which updates regularly. No sign of a virus.

Any ideas, suggestions? I could sure use some help!!

First off, it would have been helpful if you included the name
of the program you're having problems running.

OK, did you search for those files to see if they were located
anywhere on your hard drive?

If you find that you're missing the mviewer2.exe files, they
can be downloaded from this web site:

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/8774/pbmvb.html

Here's a direct download of mviewer2.exe + the .dll files
you've listed.

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/8774/zip/mviewer.zip

You can try placing those files in C:\Windows\System at your
own risk. Personally, I'd check the web site of the programs
developer first to see if they had a fix for this problem.

Good luck
