File encryption

I encrypted some file in xp, unfortunatly I had to reinstall xp due to a
program error. Now I can no longer gain access to the files is there any way
to remove the encryption? any help would be helpful.

If you could push a few buttons to decrypt the file - what would be the
value of encrypting it, in the first place? The fundamental nature of
encryption is, that you can not decrypt the data, unless you have the
appropriate key(s).

If think NTFS allows a "recovery agent". Google that term, maybe it
will help. But no guarantees, because I might be wrong, and even if I
am right, you might not have set one up.

Try here:Would that debrogate your first post?

(I made the word up. I can't find it in a dictionary, it just sounded good)

Few buttons, indeed...

Umm...on the same page is debauch...but then debauchery is fun!

I know you can't believe everything you read. But, I think I once read that
if an encrypted file is copied to a FAT32 partition in a shared folder and
copied from that shared folder to another computer from the computer to
receive the file encryption is striped off. *I think* Now there may be
more to this but that's all I remember.
