File Conversion?

Vince

Hello friends of the electronic age,

This is my challenge and I am very new to pc terminology,
so please assume, I know little-to-nothing, if you try to
help.

I have new digital camera, Minolta Dimage Z1. Excellent
to play with on its own but now I want to load up to my
images, both pictures (JPEG) and Video (MOV.) to the new
pc, (Medion 8008 singing all dancing!). The files are
stored on removable storage, from the SD/MMC card from
the camera. The pc has four mass storage device readers,
the one above plus memory stick, compact flash and smart
media.

Digital camera does video clips and now I would like to
play with them on PC. Problem is, the clips are saved by
the camera as MOV. files but, I think I am correct in
saying that Media Player 9 does not support this file
type. If I 'open with' wp9 only the sound comes out...no
pictures! So please somebody, help me. Where do I go from
here?

Do I need to convert the files to MPEG (I am assuming
this as I now realise wp9 does support this file type)and
if so, how do I go about doing this.

Any help gratefully received.

Regards
Vince

I believe that .MOV files are QuickTime files and require the QuickTime
Player from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ A free version of the player is
available.

Ian.
