File and Print Sharing Problem.

I’m running the Windows Vista Business edition operating system on which I’m
trying to install a product during the installation of which I get the error
message.
" The Microsoft File and Print Sharing Service must be installed and running
on this machine in order to install SQL express. Please contact your Network
administrator to install and/or enable this service."
I have ensured that all the Sections for File Sharing and Printer Sharing
are enabled in the Network Centre. Also the File and Printer Sharing Service
has been installed and enabled [has a tick mark] on the Network adapter. I
have also ensured that the “Server Service†is running under services.msc.
Could you please assist me further as to what best can be done in order that
the product can be installed fine?

P.S:- Im running VISTA on VMWARE.That makes it a Virtual Machine.Any
thoughts???

You need to contact the makers of whatever product you're trying to
install. A tailored SQL Express is obviously part of their product (like
ACT has) and it (and the main product) may not be Vista-compatible. The
product's tech support should know this, have any workarounds or
patches, and know whether their software will work in a VM.

Right you are Malke; You hit the nail on the Head. Thank you for your
suggestions.
Im next going to try and install the software on a standalone Physical PC
and check if that gives any relief.I was of the impression that since it
throws up an error with respect to File and Print Sharing, it should indeed
be a Windows OS issue. Could IPv6 or LLTD installed on the VMWare adapter be
a cause for concern?

I can't answer that question. The only people who can answer that are
the people who make whatever program is in question. Call their tech
support and ask them about your issues with their software. I would not
assume that the issue lies with the operating system but rather question
whether the unnamed program correctly interacts with Vista. Only the
unnamed program's tech support people will know.

Hey Malke,
Looks like we finally have a solution to that annoying
problem. It is to disable the UAC in User Accounts.
Thanks for all UR valuable suggestions.
Thanks and Regards,
Kiran.
