# Fields in Report

I am getting this error (Access 97): You tried to perform an operation that
involves more than 255 fields. Reduce the number of fields, and then try the
operation again.
in a report. Now, I have read that there can be 754 fields or something
like that. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on here. There are
more than 255 fields, but less than 754.

I've never heard of any kind of field limitation involving 754. 255 is much
more likely, since that is the maximum number of fields in a table. I'd go
with what the message is telling you: sounds plausible to me.

If you haven't compacted recently, do so, it may change the "count" Access
is having a problem with. Then see if you get the same message.
