Field Names

In Need of Help

I have several text files I need to import into MS Access. They come from a
mainframe system.

I need to be able to import the field names, how long they are, and what
data type they are (I would do it by hand, but I have about 400 fields to do
that for.

Any ideas how I can get the field names in there w/o typing them all in by
hand?

Where is the definition of the text files? Is it a copy book? You can read
the copy book and parse the records to derive the file format but there is
no automatic way.
