Feed Headlines Gadget not working

I would appreciate if someone can help me with this issue:

My feed headlines gadget (Vista RC1) stopped working all of a sudden. It
still shows up in the sidebar, but is doesn't display any feeds. Up until
yesterday it was working perfectly.

I haven't made any changes to my computer since then. I can still see all
the feeds through Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta, but they will not show up
in the gadget. I tried disabling and enabling it again, and even uninstaling.
But later I found out that uninstaling only prevents it from showing up, but
it is not actually uninstalled.

Another funny thing is that when you right click on it, the "options" do not
appear listed in the menu, as they used to.

Any help will be appreciated.

Does it work if you create a new account and login with that? My Feedbar
doesn't work on 'my' account but works on a second account I created for
'visitors' to use my computer.

On further investigation my problem was down to a badly formed feed - Check
if this is a problem for you? It ought to handle things a bit more
gracefully in this case, but this might be your issue too.

I tried creating a new user account, and indeed in this new account the
gadget works perfectly.
I am not sure what you mean by a badly formed feed? Could you please
elaborate?
What I can say is that I can read everything fine from Windows Live Mail.

Thanks.

A RSS feed that contains some kind of XML problem that the gadget is unable
to deal with

Uh huh, and I had no trouble reading all the feeds in Outlook 2007 either,
some RSS viewers are more fussy than others.
I first tried removing the feed integration between IE and Outlook 2007 in
case this was causing the problem, and it didn't help. That's when I thought
what else was different between my feeds in my current account and the new
one - and realised that there were a lot *more* feeds in this account.
That's when I took a look at the feeds themselves.

First let me apologize for the multiple postings. It kept giving me an error
message, so I thought the post hadn't gone through...

I managed to get the gadget working again.
Unfortunately I can't pinpoint what the problem was. What I can say is that
it was related to some incompatibility betwenn IE7 and Windows Live Mail
Desktop. Apparently the integration between the 2 isn't working so well.

First I replaced the files on
C:\Users\(yourusername)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds with the ones from a
newly created acount. Everything started working again. Since all the feeds I
had previously added were gone, I started adding them again. I realized that
everytime I added a feed, it was included both in IE7 and Live Mail Desktop.
Everything was working for a short wile, but then it stopped again after I
deleted some feeds through Live Mail Desktop.

I have not idea why this happened. Maybe it is corrupting the
FeedsStore.feedsdb-ms file. Anyway, I uninstaled Live Mail Desktop and
repeated the procedure. Now everything works (at least for the time being).

I guess this is the price to pay for using so many beta software
simultaneously...

By the way, I also tried adding feeds to Outlook 2007. When I added the
feeds this way, they were not added to IE7, and did not show in the gadget.

Regards,

Renato
