fdisk in XP home edition

I have an eMachine T2042 that came with XP home edition
pre-installed. I've performed a Restore Disk twice (once
thanks to the sasser worm) and am aware that I can re-
format the hard drive during set-up using the built in
feature. However, I would like to know to do the DOS
fdisk procedure. eMacines walked me thru it once, but I
neglected to write it down and the PC's support coverage
has expireed. If a future calamity required it, the DOS
fdisk would be used to make SURE that the hard drive is
re-formatted prior to a Restore Disk operation, thus
ensuring a clean install. I'm fairly pc illiterate and
need the step-by-step instructions. Can someone provide
the instructions, or a useful link to them? - Thank You

If you are referring to the set of recovery CDs that came with your
computer, you should know that the first thing that happens when you use
them is that your hard disk is reformatted. No need for fdisk.

Thanks for responding Rocky. When I experienced a problem
with the PC a few days after we first fired it up, the
only way that eMachines could clear it up was by walking
me thru the fdisk over the phone. It took the better part
of an hour for them to figure out to try it. They didn't
seem to understand it either. But it worked. Seems to be
an obsolete procedure, but I was just wanting to gain the
knowledge for future reference. Thanks again.

And yes Rocky, I was referring to the recovery disks in
the 'restore disk operation'.
