"Fax Services" fails to install

When trying to add "Fax Services" under Control Panel / Add Windows components, the Wizard runs through it's routine, giving periodic details such as: "adding thus and so, or checking thus and so..) the wizard finishes and I am prompted to click "Finish". The process should be complete, but when I then look at the list of installed components, the "Fax Services" box remains unchecked and it has not installed. Help!!! (using Windows XP-Home edition)

List the analog fax modem you are using and state whether it is on the
Windows XP HCL list.
Look at your fasxetup.log.
