FAX number from Outlook Contacts is showing up as an Email Address

I have an interesting situation going on that i need expert help. For each
contact in Outlook 2003 that has a FAX number, it is showing up in my
Contacts Address Book as an email address! And, it the Contact has both an
email address AND a FAX number listed in Outlook Contacts, the the Contacts
Address book shows 2 EMAIL address. If I delete the FAX number that shows as
an email address in the Address Book, then it is deleted as the FAX number in
my Contacts list. It's almost like the FAX number is not being correctly
mapped to the correct field in the Contacts Address Book that is accessed
when I send emails.

Any ideas??

Normal behavior. The fax numbers are not showing up as an email addresses,
they're showing up as an electronic addresses. Fax numbers are valid
electronic addresses, since there are many client- and server-based
components that can use such addresses.

One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for
other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the
address book.

There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax numbers from the
address book. See http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/rshifa.htm and
http://www.sperrysoftware.com/Outlook_Solutions.htm (Hide Fax Numbers).

Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is
simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other
(non-phone) fields.

Should fax be the desired medium, how does one get the fax sent through
Outlook when fax number is in the "To..." ? Other than internet fax service
i.e. +1 (123) (e-mail address removed).

This is often the case if one wants the fax number to be used should a
rather primal contact not be using email yet.

My preference would be to utilize my current resources:
Vista Ultimate, Outlook 2007 Ultimate with Business Contact Manager, DSL
connection, & a 56k fax modem.

Also, how does one link Word documents to a contact's activities, etc.?

AND...since you seem to be darn sharp... how to easily (click, click)
address a new Word letter to a contact with contacts address neatly displayed
as would be desired in a business letter.

Makes my brain hurt just asking.

You must configure your Outlook profile with whatever fax transports it will
support. You'll have quite a chore. You'll fist have to get an analog filter
for your DSL line and make sure that it works with both your analog fax
modem and Windows Fax and Scan. Have you done that?

I have already configured Windows Fax and Scan and can send a Word document
via print document in Word by fax. When I say "configure" in no way do I
mean that I have not allready made exhaustive attempts to use "help" and
search other threads.

My question stands at this time: Should I desire to have Outlook send the
message that Outlook placed the fax number in the "To...:" box of, then, How
do I use Outlook to send this message to the fax recipient?

Your term "transport" returns no applicable results in my multiple help file
queries both online in Microsft support and in Outlook help.

server-based
components that can use such addresses.

One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to
prefix
the
fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for
home,
O
for
other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't
show
it
in
the
address book.

There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax
numbers
from
the
address book. See http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/rshifa.htm and
http://www.sperrysoftware.com/Outlook_Solutions.htm (Hide Fax
Numbers).

Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address
book
is
simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in
some
other
(non-phone) fields.

I have an interesting situation going on that i need expert
help.
For
each
contact in Outlook 2003 that has a FAX number, it is showing
up
in
my
Contacts Address Book as an email address! And, it the Contact
has
both
an
email address AND a FAX number listed in Outlook Contacts, the
the
Contacts
Address book shows 2 EMAIL address. If I delete the FAX number
that
shows
as
an email address in the Address Book, then it is deleted as
the
FAX
number
in
my Contacts list. It's almost like the FAX number is not being
correctly
mapped to the correct field in the Contacts Address Book that
is
accessed
when I send emails.

Any ideas??

In Vista I went to Start>Control Panel>User Accounts and Family
Safety>Mail>Mail Setup - Outlook>E-mail Accounts>on the E-mail
tab>New...>Add
New E-mail Account> Other> and the only option was "Outlook Mobile Service
(Text Messaging) there was nothing about fax.

Russ Valentine said:
Once you have configured fax, just add it as one of the mail transports
in
your Outlook profile: Tools > Account Settings > Email > New... > Other
Fax Mail Transport will be listed there.

I have already configured Windows Fax and Scan and can send a Word
document
via print document in Word by fax. When I say "configure" in no way do
I
mean that I have not allready made exhaustive attempts to use "help"
and
search other threads.

My question stands at this time: Should I desire to have Outlook send
the
message that Outlook placed the fax number in the "To...:" box of,
then,
How
do I use Outlook to send this message to the fax recipient?

Your term "transport" returns no applicable results in my multiple help
file
queries both online in Microsft support and in Outlook help.

:

How do you configure Windows Fax and Scan? Did you try? Did you read
the
Help files? Just follow the directions. We're not here to repost Help
files.
Once you configure it you will find it as a transport you can add to
Outlook
2007.

Yes, meaning I have a fax capable phone line to my fax card and DSL
into
my
router which leads to the computer for internet.

How to configure?

:

You must configure your Outlook profile with whatever fax
transports
it
will
support. You'll have quite a chore. You'll fist have to get an
analog
filter
for your DSL line and make sure that it works with both your analog
fax
modem and Windows Fax and Scan. Have you done that?

Should fax be the desired medium, how does one get the fax sent
through
Outlook when fax number is in the "To..." ? Other than internet
fax
service
i.e. +1 (123) (e-mail address removed).

This is often the case if one wants the fax number to be used
should
a
rather primal contact not be using email yet.

My preference would be to utilize my current resources:
Vista Ultimate, Outlook 2007 Ultimate with Business Contact
Manager,
DSL
connection, & a 56k fax modem.

Also, how does one link Word documents to a contact's activities,
etc.?

AND...since you seem to be darn sharp... how to easily (click,
click)
address a new Word letter to a contact with contacts address
neatly
displayed
as would be desired in a business letter.

Makes my brain hurt just asking.

:

Normal behavior. The fax numbers are not showing up as an email
addresses,
they're showing up as an electronic addresses. Fax numbers are
valid
electronic addresses, since there are many client- and
server-based
components that can use such addresses.
