Strange question <g>!

Favourite feature is easy, conditional formatting by a mile.

Shortcut is the double-click autofill, or is it the format painter?

What about the favourite missing feature?

Hi JulieD!

It has to be the double click of the + for fast copy down parallel to
entries in adjacent columns. Used daily and beats the hell out of the
dragging down.

Nice idea for a post!

Hi Norm,

Touche. That is what I meant by double-click autofill. What feature though?

Hi Bob

favourite missing feature:
(can i have more than one?)
- more conditional formats (3 is never enough)
- change case feature like Word's (Shift & F3)

Cheers

It would be navigational shortcuts something like
WordStar, but they're not programable to my fingers even
if they did exist. I'm not thrilled by mousing. Great
question.

I think that these are the 3 things that I do most often:

Data|filter|autofilter
=vlookup()'s
and
data|pivottable.

I use the Data|Filter|autofilter so much I have a macro button for it.

Sub FilterOnOff()
' This macro toggles the Auto Filter On and Off
Selection.AutoFilter
'Reset All Interior cells to standard color index
Cells.Select
Selection.Interior.ColorIndex = xlNone
Range("A1").Select
End Sub

Also I like to minimize the column width of the spread sheet with this macro
button

Sub MIN_COL_WIDTH()
' This takes the columns and minimizes their size
Cells.Select
Selection.Columns.AutoFit
Range("A1").Select
End Sub

That's a great post. Gave me lots of tips on shortcuts.

Hi Norman

Could you tell me how to do the shortcut you said, "It has to be th
double click of the + for fast copy down parallel to
entries in adjacent columns. Used daily and beats the hell out of th
dragging down."

Don't know where to click +

The drag handle.

When the cursor hovers over the drag handle (small black square- lower right
of selected cell), it changes from a fat white cross to a skinny black cross
(+).

There's a button you can add to your toolbar that can turn autofilter on. (I
like to select my specific range first, though.)

Tools|Customize|Commands Tab|Data Category
just drag that funnel looking icon to your favorite toolbar.

And one of the nice enhancements with xl2002 is the ability to insert/delete
columns in a filtered range.

(I hate that I have to remove the filter, insert/delete, and then reapply the
filter in xl2k (at work).)

Hi kraft!

For you to see the drag handle + you need to have:

Tools > Options > Edit
Check "Allow cell drag and drop"

Haven't done a plain drag and drop for a long time; well, not since
the Gay Mardi Gras!
