Word 2000 has a way to save to 'favorites'. Is there any
way to remove favorites that are no longer wanted (the
icon, not the file). Thanks,

While Favorites is a folder on your hard drive into which you could save the
files themselves, the contents of this folder are normally links (shortcuts)
to files not the files themselves. Delete the links to remove the entries.
If you have saved the files themselves to this folder, then move them to
another folder and they will no longer appear in your favorites list, but
the files will still be available.

When I highlight a folder and delete, it removes the whole
folder and files. How do I delete just the link? Thanks.

Open Windows Explorer - select the folder you are interested in in the left
window. Select the file you want to delete in the right window. Press
delete. You can do much the same thing from the Word File Open dialog -
though you only have one window to play in.
