Favorites Pulldown Menu

It used to be when I dragged my mouse over a folder in the pull-down menu
under "Favorites", that the contents of the folder would appear as a list.
Now, when I drag my mouse over the folder, nothing happens. I need to click
on the folder to view the contents--and the contents appear in a new Windows
XP window. I liked the old way better, and wonder what happened--and can I
change the interface back to how it was before? Maybe this was one of those
"automatic updates" from Microsoft? Has anyone else had this occur, and know
how to fix this?

Hi dimsum :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced U
Uncheck the "Close unused folders in History and Favorites"

Also...it is possible that your Favorites folder has become corrupted.

Open Windows Explorer (not IE) and navigate to the Favorites folder in your
User account folder on the hard drive. Right click on it and make a backup
copy of it. Then delete the original Favorites folder and restart your
computer, Windows will create a new one for you. Then, go back to the
Favorites backup copy in Windows Explorer, open it and click once in the
open area to the right of the file list, then click Edit on the toolbar and
select "Select all" Then right click and Copy. Open the new Favorites
folder and paste. Open IE and check to see if all the Favorites are listed
and if the mouse over works again.

or...see the information here:

Hi Jan,

Hmm, I tried to delete the Favorites folder, but Windows wouldn't let me...
I renamed it instead. I restarted the computer, and IE seemed to still use
the renamed file as my Favorites folder? In any case, it all seemed to work
out, since the mouse-over is working again after the reboot (and I changed
the name back to Favorites). Thanks for all your help!
