favorites icons have disappeared

The default favorites icons for some (not all) of my favorites have been
replaced by the Microsoft icon that indicate that there is no application
associated with the file. The difference between those that have maintained
the default shortcut and those that have lost it is this:

The icon properties for those shortcuts that have maintained the icon are
C:\WINNT\System32\url.dll

and the properties of those shortcuts with no icon is
C:\WINNT\system32\url.dll

If I confirm the location by clicking "ok" to the icon location, it will
reset... but I would rather not have to fix hunrdeds of favorites icons by
doing this.

The icon of the URL in the address window also features the "no application
associated with this file" icon.

This has happened to me before, but the problem seemed to fix itself after a
while. Any more immediate solutions?

The icons are stored in your browser cache and will be flushed if the site
hasn't been visited for a while. When exactly is difficult to determine as
it will depend on the size of your browser cache. Look for a program called
FavOrg as it stores the icons outside of the browser cache.
