Favorites - again

The other day, I asked how to save my Favorites in Internet Explorer in
order to move them to a new computer. (I am using Windows XP-SP2 and
Outlook Express.)

Ricky advised me to open IE, go to file > import and export then export
favorites to a file to import on the other computer and reverse the process.

Maybe a stupid question but - I can certainly export favorites to a file,
but how do I import that file in the new computer if the old one is
disconnected? Move the info to a CD? That would give me a big problem,
since my failed CD software is why I have bought the new computer.

Any help would be most appreciated since I won't hook up the new unit until
the problem is resolved. Thanks.

Hi Dora,

CD/Floppy/USB Thumb drive - anything will do.

Actually, Windows XP has in-built CD-Writing capability. Please see:

Other, simplest way is to look for Favorites folders in your Documents and
Settings subfolders. Check all users subdirectories for this folders
(Favorites), copy what's inside (all links) to other location (directory),
then - when you need it - copy back to your Favorites in any of Users proper
(Favorites) directory. Also, using Explorer you can just move/organize
Favorites as you wish. IE will catch up them easily.
At least it's what I'm doing often instead of organizing Favorites in IE.
It's easier this way.

Thank you! I've followed your directions and have made the CD - I've
checked it and all the info is there.
Big help.

And it's a darned good job I made that Favorites CD yesterday. Today,
Windows won't recognize *any* CD - tells me that it can't be read because
it's corrupted. Baloney. I'm glad I'm switching to that new computer ASAP.
