favico.ico - again

B

Brenda

I seem to still be troubled by my favico.ico on the new website that I am
trying to build for a girlfriend -

http://www.brickwallbuster.com/new/index.htm

It does appear at first, but then when I flip from page to page, it
disappears, and when I then hit the HOME button to return to the index, it's
gone...

I have used a WDT, so I would think the code would be the same for all
pages.

I am completely baffled at what I have done wrong, and what is causing it to
disappear...

HELP,
Brenda

Make sure the each meta tag is on a separate line, like:

<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://www.brickwallbuster.com/favicon.ico">

instead of like:

<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"><LINK
href="http://www.brickwallbuster.com/favicon.ico"
rel="SHORTCUT ICON">

Now I seem to have lost ALL my favico.ico's from working.

Could you please take another look and tell me what I have messed up?

Thank you,
Brenda

You probably need to put it in your favorites again. Then close your
browser and reopen it. My favicon will disappear occasionally and that is
all you need to do.

I know the little tree shows up, but the little tree appears here -

http://www.brickwallbuster.com/new/ (the new website I am building for
her) -

and as you go to "Services" for example, it's still there -

http://www.brickwallbuster.com/new/services.htm

but when I go to "Pricing" for example, it disappears -

http://www.brickwallbuster.com/new/pricing.htm

And then when I return to HOME - it's gone again.

http://www.brickwallbuster.com/new/index.htm

I don't quite understand it all, because I used one DWT for all of the
pages, so I would "think" they would all act the same.

Thomas Rowe was kind enough to tell me this:
Make sure the each meta tag is on a separate line, like:

<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://www.brickwallbuster.com/favicon.ico">

--- I think I did that to the DWT, which was to change all of the pages (8)
that were attached to them... but I seem to still have the same problem.

I'm sure it's something I've done, but I'm at a loss as to what I have done
wrong.

PS: I misspoke when I said I have lost the favico.ico on *all* the pages...
it seems to be there a couple of times, but disappears again....

Hi Sam,

In Internet Explorer v7, I shouldn't have to put the website in my
favorites, should I, to see the favicon? Shouldn't it just appear up in the
browser address? That's where I see it appearing and disappearing.

I opened all your pages and the tree was in each one. Added all the page to
favorites and it showed up in the favs dropdown.

Don't know what else to say. You have done a good job - it works fine.

Oh - and I think your site is a really idea - not heard of that idea before.
Good luck.

I use IE 6 and have to put all the pages into Favorites. As your cache
clears out, you'll have to put them back into favorites again. Take a look
at http://www.djdenham.com/saving_favicons.htm for more explanation.

Thank you so VERY much, Steve. That did it -- now I do see the favico.ico
on each page.

Hi Wayne,

Thank you - you are correct. I needed to clean out my temp files. I
couldn't figure out why I couldn't see the tree on each page.

I'm glad you like my site. I've been working hard on it, and want to give
my girlfriend the best site I can make.
