FATAL ERROR DURRING INSTALLATION -- I’m using Windows FX. It all started
when I upgraded from a 2005 Internet Security software to 2006 Internet
Security software. I initially used the installer that came with the
software, I started the program and it came up saying that there was previous
2005 software and that it needs to be removed. I clicked yes and it
supposedly removed the software and then I needed to click yes to reboot to
complete the installation. After rebooting I got a message saying it
detected a copy of Internet Security and it needs to be removed. Again I
clicked yes and then it said it needs to reboot to complete the installation.
Well this loop got boring. I decided to go to the control panel and use the
add/remove software, I noticed that 2005 Internet Security was stilled
registered. I clicked on remove and got the Fatal Error During Installation.
I went back to the original 2005 Internet Security CD and tried to reinstall
the package. I couldn’t get passed, there is another Internet Security
software on the system, and it needs to be removed. I went to WINDOWS
EXPLORE and manually delete the 2006 Internet Security package. I still got
, there is another Internet Security software on the system, and it needs to
be removed. I went back to the control panel and use the add/remove
software, again I noticed that the 2005 Internet Security was stilled
registered. I hit removed and got Fatal Error During Installation. Can
anyone give me a hint/suggestion on what to do next. Removing WIN FX is and
reinstalling could make matters worse, this is not an acceptable solution –
