Fatal Error/Memory Error when gaming...please help

J

Jbird

When I play games (Warcraft iii) with the FSB set at
133mhz, I get an error:

Fatal Error
Exception: 0xc0000005 (access_violation) at 001B:2082E8f0.
Instruction referenced memory at 001B:2082E8f0, memory
could not be read.

I've updated the bios, sis chip, video card driver, sound
card driver, new RAM, new antec power supply and I still
get the dang error message.

When I run the computer at a slower FSB (100 mhz)
everything runs just fine.

Please help! You can email me or post here.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Jbird,

You might be able to find a solution in your motherboard
manual. Read up on it's RAM requirements. It's possible
that it doesn't work best on the type of speed of the RAM
you have installed. Read what it recommends you change
in your BIOS setup as well for the quantity and type of
RAM you're using.

I suggest you also do a RAM test at both 100 and 133 MHz
using: http://www.memtest86.com/memt30.zip
after you extract that zip file, click on the README.txt file for the
instructions on how to create the boot floppy to test your RAM.

Hope this helps you Jbird, if not check with the shop that sold you
your RAM to see if they have another brand they recommend for
your model motherboard. Don't bother using more than 512 MB.
