I got it via bit torrent last time round and usenet this time. I did
not even bother with the official link / DL manager having wasted a
lot of time and bandwidth last time round. No idea why it works for
some and not others and TBO I have better things to do than give a
toss about it.

Torrentspy Link

Its on various usenet binary groups also which dl a lot faster, I got
it from a.b.boneless I think.

If you do use bit torrent or usenet bear in mind this is not the
official download and could be tampered with so check it out with AV,
Antispyware scanners etc. even then its still not guaranteed to be the
real thing but the odds are it is OK. Look for comments in torrentspy
or in the usenet headers - they will confirm or deny the authenticity
to some extent. The torrentspy link above is a good one as far as I
can tell without dl-ing it myself.

Legally speaking doing it this way is a grey area as its a free beta
/ marketing tool you are not "stealing" it and you presumably have an
official key as you have the e mail. Also getting it from other
sources is doing MSFT a favour in easing the load ever so slightly on
thier servers.

I am not sure why they did not use bit torrent to distribute Vista
Beta in the first place - its an ideal candidate for large file
distribution and is extensively used for Linux Distros.
