Faster software to scan?

Is there any fast scanner software? Windows XP's scanner thing makes
me go through several screens before I can just save the file. I'd
like to be able to press a button, have it scan and save the file to a
filename with some kind of numbers or something at the end with 1
press of the button.

You get what you pay for, the slowness of scanning is more dependent
on the scanners than the software. If you are doing documents there
are several mass, high speed document scanners but they cost a couple
of grand. If you want a fast film scanner, they exist again for $2-5K
and are limited in resolution, to say 1800-2400ppi.
What software came with your scanner? Have you tried it? Most scanner
companies have their software on their web sites. Most also have a
premium sw that has more features that costs a few $. Again the
scanner is the slow part of this equation.

Yeh, the software that came with my scanner is buggy, I usually have
to reinstall it every month or so, so it works. So I just use the
import or windows xp thing.

I know that the scanner is the slowest part, but if I could get a new
scanner program that knew my defaults and just had one screen to scan/
save all in one with 1 button that would save me several clicks and
about 10 seconds.

I would of thought a program like this existed.

Have you updated the scanners software from the manufacturer's web site?

If you don't like the software that came with your scanner.
There is another software, you have to check to see if your scanner is in
the list.

I have the last version they released. My scanner is pretty old, from
1999, but it works well and has a good DPI, so I have no need to buy a
newer one.
