FAST & Migrating OE Identities

E

ELR

I have posted this question on another MS group and on a couple forums and
haven't received any responses. Does anyone know the definitive answer?

Currently there are 2 users on the (old) Win98 machine, each with multiple
OE5 email accounts/identities, accessed via OE's switch identity feature.

I presume I can use FAST to collect user identities and email
settings/address book/message stores.

What is the best way to move each user's current individual OE5 identities
from old Win98 machine to new WinXP PC? I "think" I should do this on a per
user basis, i.e., use FAST to collect the appropriate
folders/settings/identities, etc. from the Win98 machine for User 1, then
logon to XP for that user and transfer the files. Then repeat the process
for User 2.

Is this correct?

And, more importantly, in XP, where is the "correct" directory/folder/file
location to "dump" the identity data file? IOW, if I were setting up a mail
account in OE6 for the first time in XP, where would the store folder be
located?

I realize I can accomplish OE restoration from one PC to another using a OE
Backup program (per the MVPs), but I'd like to use FAST instead.

TIA

This is the fool proof method I have used for years.....

Locate the following 4 branches of the Registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

Right click on each branch above and select Export and save the REG files to
a floppy disk. Import.
