Fan doesnt stop when in stand by or hibernation

I recently upgraded to this mobo Asus P800 and discovered that the fan
wouldnt stop in power management modes. It shouldnt be a hardware problem,
because I installed server 2003 to another partition and saw that the fan
was shutting down in stand by or in hibernation.. So whats the problem with
XP? Any idea?

Thanx for any help

With Asus motherboards (I have 3), the "suspend to RAM" option must be
enabled in the bios AT THE TIME OF THE INSTALL.

If it is not, The computer will not attain the S3 suspend state. That is why
your old install will not work but your new install will.

Now this new Asus is using Ami bios which I didnt use since my 486 days. I
dont think I've seen a STR option in there... and if there is, can I just
adjust it, or should I make a clean install of XP.
Thanx for your help.

You have to turn it on. It is off by default in the bios. I can't remember
exactly where it is so you will have to search the individual screens. Just
remember that you can exit without saving, if you screw something up.

Researched this same problem myself, tried everything, so I
thought...........

My solution, I had just updated my logitech mouse driver which added a
run statement in device manager under "mouse" that said to allow mouse
to bring computer out of standby mode." (usb device is the answer)
Unchecked that section, all works great now!!!
