Failure to install programs

Windows domain controller at sp4 level (two other w2k member servers in
domain which work fine)

Suddenly unable to install programs, patches, or updates. First encountered
attempting to download and install through Windows Updates. Server hangs on
Windows Installer screen. No errors noted, Installer screen simply sits
there, forever. Attempted to load a program and experienced same results.

We are beginning preparation to move Domain to 2003 and all servers up to
2003 OS. Which will be an issue if we can't get DC to upgrade due to
installer problems. Any suggestions?

Check Event Viewer for errors.

David,
Checked the Event Viewer thoroughly. There are no events logged for this
behavior. The only thing we are observing is that the installer hangs and
does not complete the installation of the program/update/patch. If we kill
the event via Task Manager, the server will take a moment to refresh and be
back to "normal" functionality.
To summarize: No errors, and no events logged.
