"Failed to get data.." Error

R

Ray Brown

When starting internet explorer a window appears with a
RED X with iexplore in the upper left hand corner,
stating "Failed to get data for ' " and when "OK" is
clicked it askes to send a error report and then closes.
This occures everytime you attempt to start internet
explore or Windows explore and sometimes when Control
Panel is entered. Have tried uninstalling Internet
explorer and reinstalling but it did not correct the
problem. This is running on Windows XP Professional with
Office 2000 Professional and ALL Microsoft updates for
WIndows and Office.

Any information that you can share to assist in resolving
this issue is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ray,

We've seen a few cases where this type of message is caused by some spyware
that is installed. You might want to use some software that can scan for
and remove spyware to see if that helps.
