Hello Sul. WGA is an anti-piracy scheme developed by Microsoft that
informs a user whether their version of Windows is genuine or pirate.
Failing WGA usually means that you are running a pirated copy of Windows
which is not very good. More about this is available
*'here' (http://tinyurl.com/2zvxc9)*.

If your Operating System failed WGA, then I would strongly recommend
you to buy a new copy of Windows as there are many benefits of it. In
the end, it is you who have to decide. Hope that helps. :)

Not so fast, Goku. There have been *numerous* instances when WGA failed to
install, Windows suddenly decided it wasn't legal when it was, etc. Telling
the OP to buy another copy of Windows - especially when he already said he
had a legal copy - is not the answer.

Is this the exact name of the update that failed to install? Because if it
is, you do not *ever* need to install the WGA *Notification*. If this is
for the WGA *Authentication* that is required in order to get Windows
Updates, that's a different story.

If it really is the *Notification*, the next time you get the yellow shield
for updates, click it and in the Windows Update installer window that
appears take "Custom" and not "Express". Uncheck the box next to the
Notification, OK out. You'll then get a box where you can check "don't show
me this update again".

Any other questions about Windows Update should be posted in its newsgroup
which is where the Windows Update experts hang out:

If it is the *Notification*, then yes absolutely you can ignore it. The
Notification is an annoying little process that continually checks to see
if your OS is legal and if it's pirated, pops up a Notice telling you to
get legal. I won't say what I think of this behavior, but will say that I
never install it on any of my Windows boxen or that of my clients.
