Fade music

I know with earlier version of Powerpoint it is not possible to fade a music
file (let's say an MP3 from the hard disk) to end at a certain slide. You
were required to edit the sound file to the correct length and then save it
that way prior to putting it into Powerpoint. That is a big pain becuase
then if you make any changes to the presentation you have to re-edit the
sound file again and start over.

Does the latest version of Powerpoint handle this issue without having to
edit the sound file? I have heard this issue from many users of Powerpoint
in the past, if Powerpoint2003 does not do it, I wonder why Microsoft has
not addressed it?

Does anyone have any info on if the next release of Powerpoint might handle
sound effect fading?

Thanks

Joe

PowerPoint 2003 is no different. If anyone knows anything about the next
version of PowerPoint, they can't talk about it so may as well not ask. <VBG>
