F8 Key doesn't work in Vista

Hi all,
I've upgraded a Hp Pavilion PC, running XP, to Vista Home Premium.
Everything was OK until the day I've to enter in safe mode to erase a
duplicate ethernet adapter. The F8 key doesn't work.
I've tried severall ways, even changed the keyboard, but it still not working.
There's no F-Lock Key.
I could get logged in safe mode trough the "msconfig", but I am wondering
why doesn' the F8 work on that PC?!
Does it happend to anyone?
There's a solution?
Thanks
Jorge

There is at least one other person with the same problem, but
no one has solved it yet. He used msconfig also.

Hi Don,
Meanwille I have already identify the problem. Someway in Ms config, in the
tab Boot, the timeout is = 0. I could change it to 30 and the F8 Key worked.
But I still have a problem, I can´t put the time out=30 with a normall boot.
It only goes with a selective boot.
I have to get a way to fix "boot.ini" and perhaps msconfig.
Anyone knows how?
Thanks,
Jorge

I have a selective startup at all times, caused by removing Defender and Nero
from startup.
I just ticked the security box, when you get to the desktop, not to remind
me again.
