F parameter not specified

I tried to defrag and this is the error I got.
Defragmentation of HP_PAVILION (C has been aborted due
to inconsistancies that were detected in filesystem.
Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on HP_PAVILION (C to
repair these inconsistancies, then run Defragmenter
again. I did exactly what it said, and I still cannot
defrag, keep getting error. Please tell me how to do this
correctly. I have a Windows XP operating system and ISP
is SBC DSL. Sincerely Lela

Open cmd prompt in tools,type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree to the message(s),then type:EXIT When the normal
text is displayed,restart computer.Back on desktop,
reopen cmd,typeefrag C: When it completes the utility
retype:EXIT
